Puma Love Art

Press & Media

For journalists, bloggers, podcast hosts, and anyone who wants to tell this story.

The Story

Puma Love is a self-taught watercolor artist, a former criminal defense attorney, and a seasonal nomad living in a teardrop camper named "One Love." With seven generations of Appalachian roots and twelve years of law practice experience in North Carolina, Puma brings a rare combination of cultural depth, social consciousness, and artistic talent.

His work spans Appalachian heritage portraits, southern humor, wildlife art, botanical watercolors, and unflinching advocacy art -- for trans-folk, racial justice, climate action, and LGBTQ rights. As a queer man living and thriving with HIV, he makes art that advocates for everyone who has ever been told they don’t belong. That work lives right alongside the possums, the dandy frogs, and the Appalachian grandmothers — because joy and justice belong in the same place. Puma says out loud what some people are afraid to whisper.

These days, Puma spends his winters following the sunshine to Florida and his summers in the mountains near Asheville, North Carolina -- traveling in One Love, accompanied by his loyal sidekick, Bella, a Jack Russell terrier mix. His original watercolor paintings are available for sale in the Shop Art section of this website, and his Etsy shop offers wearable art, where his Appalachian and Southern humor shirts have found an enthusiastic and growing audience.
